There is a cross walk to cross Temple Street, at the corner of Wall, and it is marked on the road with white lines! Business people and students (even a group of daycare children with their teachers) cross this very busy intersection all the time. Cars ignore the crosswalk and the pedestrians trying to cross. Cars speed down Temple (one way)to Elm St., and even when a walker is in the midst of crossing they ignore them! Can one of those "pedestrian walkway" signs on a stand be placed in the middle of the walkway please? Thanks for your assistance!

Barbara,
It looks like the map marker for this issue was showing up somewhere in Dixwell. I've relocated it for you, and the public watchers in this area have been notified!
Thanks very much for working with us,
Andrew

Thank you for the comments on this intersection. We will send a referral to NHPD and YPD to help with enforcement of the pedestrian right-of-way. Unfortunately, the in-road pedestrian signs are placed on two-way streets with unsignalized crosswalks. That is a national regulatory standard. We have just a handful of in-road signs still available for this year, but they are available if you know of a suggestion that meets the criteria above.

There ARE, right before the intersection with Wall, as you are on Temple, signs on either side of the street, informing people of the crosswalk ahead, but who sees or reads them? Very few, I am sure, if you took a survey. Can the signs be repainted? In yellow? Or, can the crosswalk lines themselves be painted in blaze orange or neon yellow instead of the current white lines in the road, so they are more noticible?
Well, anyway, whatever can be done is appreciated and it's nice to know people are, indeed, aware of the situation. My thanks again.

Did you pick up the extra one at State Street and Hines Place?

Mike,
As a resident of the property directly adjoining this crosswalk, and a frequent user of this crosswalk, I request rectangular rapid flash beacons:

(Approved for interim use by the Federal Highway Administration for this type of situation).
