  Frog park beltway is the perfect place for those activities. The community has been so proud to develope the park.
  My kids learned to ride bikes in Bart parking lot.
  Acknowledge that slow steets serve a few. Parks serve all.

  I'm a fan of any well thought out and implemented traffic mitigation efforts that benefit many/most. I wish our street was a Slow Street since we are used as a cut-through street. But Slow Streets was a cheap and easy-to-implement response to a situation, not a long-term, well thought out solution that is equitable for many/most. People who live on the streets that get the overflow traffic increase are not as happy as you. Many of the overflow streets that have to be used force drivers to make dangerous turns without the benefit of a stop light even though that stop light is one block over but on a Slow Street (Martin onto Claremont when there's a stoplight at Forest; Lawton onto 51st when there's a stoplight at Shafter). Slow streets benefits the few, not the broader community.

  I attended the BPAC meeting regarding Slow Streets last week and it seems to me that most of the pushback against Slow Streets relates to diverted traffic to nearby streets and lack of lights/safe traffic management at some intersections where Slow Streets (like Colby and Shafter) used to bear the brunt.
  Instead of removing Slow Streets, which are beloved by many, can the city look for other ways to manage or minimize traffic in general without taking away these safe corridors for non-vehicle traffic?
  It doesn't feel right that we have to choose between safe, efficient driving and safe, efficient cycling and walking.
  To my neighbors who oppose Slow Streets: maybe there is a third option where we can all travel in our preferred ways and keep the streets safe for all, not just cars. Please don't underestimate how much value Slow Streets offer even if you don't personally use them. Many do and we should seek a solution that better serves everyone, including those who use and love safe corridors for cycling.

  If slow streets are taken away, maybe we can at least get some additional safety features like additional speed bumps, round abouts etc to prevent drivers from speeding down Colby street. Slow weekends is also an interesting proposal.

  Most Oakland residents want Colby open and free for traffic. As someone who has driven on Colby for 60 years of time and still do, I am disgusted with those who care only about their own concepts. Return our streets to us who pay a lot of taxes to drive, PLEASE.

  Natalie, please refer to Oakland's Neighborhood Bike Route (NBR) Implementation Guide linked below, adopted in mid-2021. As a community volunteer I worked with city staff to develop this guide, as streets around Oakland that had existing NBR (aka bike boulevard) recommendations were being repaved, but without adding the speed humps and other minimum design details as recommended in the bike plan to help improve safety on what are supposed to be "all ages and abilities" bike routes.

  This guide makes it more clear that these features are to be added by default with construction projects on these corridors going forward. But we also have to push the city to revisit recently repaved streets (including Colby, 32nd St, 11th Ave, 22nd Ave, Brookdale, Flora, and others) that will need these upgrades applied retroactively.

  As in Europe, Germany and Danemark, one is not allowed in the "bike" lanes with a fast road bike. You must get out in with the fast auto traffic there. SAME here, few riders with sew ups and good legs want to get stuck in the bike lane with slow moutain bikers and worse etc.. THE bike lanes around town are not for the old school bike riders. They ride with traffic or move to a slower street. The bike lanes we are putting in in general are a hazard for fast road bikes.
