The issue is in Maxwell Alley just a few feet West of the Butte Street Stairs. there are 1 or 2 large DEAD bushes there that are an extreme fire hazard. We reported this 2 years ago, even pointed it out to someone from the city back then. This is now a particularly worrisome issue as within the last month young people have been setting fires on the first landing from the top. One was pointed out by a city worker when he was doing Graffiti removal & I discovered the other myself when cleaning up garbage left by homeless people going though a bag of trash they stole from someones garbage. This is unacceptable, if someone lights this bush on fire I have a large Eucalyptus tree a few feet across from it and it could involve other homes here in the vicinity. Thank you for your attention to this problem.

Misc items, (ie, kitchen odds & ends, Popcorn popper, binders, etc.) There is also a large suitcase and a small backpack full of personal papers, mail etc. The items are on both sides of the alley & in bushes. This is just a few feet west of the stairs at Maxwell Alley. We tried to straighten it up a bit so that cars won't hit the stuff.

A love seat has been dumped on Kentucky Street, just a few feet east of Branciforte. It is sitting in front of a vacant lot at that intersection. Trust me, you can't miss it.

This is almost at the corner or Branciforte & Kentucky Streets. The couch/love-seat is sitting on the sidewalk on Kentucky in front of an empty lot and has been there for about a month. At one time it had a bedroll on it but now that is gone & tan couch/love-seat remains.

The issue is the broken cement & loose handrail at the top of the Butte Street Stairs. On the 4th of July a large crowd of people gather here to watch the fireworks, many are children. I would like to have someone come out & put some kind of warning, caution tape, etc. so that people will not be leaning on the railing or children doing what kids do, playing on the handrail. I know it's on the City's to do list but I don't have a good feeling about that railing when it comes to lots of people gathering there. People also tend to wiggle something when it's loose, just because it wiggles. Would hate to have someone injured and their holiday ruined. Thanks

At the top of the Butte Street Stairs, (off of Kentucky), there is still a huge chunk of cement missing that secures the railing to the ground, due to this the railing wobbles. People, (especially children), tend to lean on it, use it for push ups, etc., so it gets worse & worse and now is dangerously unstable. Also, the paint is peeling from all the iron work and rusting, especially underneath hand rails. I appears that large pieces of rust are falling off.

On July 27, 2012 a truck & trailer crashed into the railing, the lot, on Butte Street, coming to rest across Maxwell Alley. The trailer remained hanging over the railing at the top of the stairs. Along with the bench, the vehicle also plowed down the Bollard to the left of the stairway. This Bollard was given to someone from Public Works by one of the neighbors, it only had minimal damage and thought it would be re-installed shortly. Well, here it is - going on 3 years now, and it's still missing. I'm thinking someone must have forgotten about it. The bolts are still in the ground, sticking up about 4 inches or so. There is a sandwich board over the top of them, however, strong winds blow it over, kids move it around and it is a real eyesore. Also, setting it back in place is dangerous if you get your fingers in the top hinges, they can actually cut the tops of a persons fingers off. While we're at it, same location, the railing is still wobbly and the concrete is still broken. We've heard employees say "we'll get that fixed next week.". However, next week never arrives. Maybe if someone takes a gander around your storage yard, that Bollard just may be hiding in there somewhere, forgotten and all alone, maybe in a dark corner somewhere, scared & crying...Oops. Sorry, got a bit carried away there.
If you look at the picture you can see the bolts. The bench is back so those bolts are just a few inches out from it.
    Thank you
