Description

I would like to report an increase in speeding traffic on Garfield Ave. I would like to see what types traffic calming and enforcement efforts can be instituted on Garfield Ave to address this serious speeding issue of vehicles using Garfield to connect to High Street and Fernside Ave.

Garfield has become a convenient connector between High and Fernside for those driving over the High Street Bridge and trying to beat the queue that backs up on Fernside at the Eastshore-Garfield/Fernside 4 way stop.

Speeding thru traffic on Garfield Ave has become more prevalent, even with the pandemic. Over the past few years more families with children have moved on Garfield raising the concern of the neighborhood.

Garfield Ave is on the Safe routes to School map that serves both Lincoln Middle school and Edison Elementary. I am concerned that with the increase in neighborhood kids and school kids someone will get hurt.

I look forward to connecting with The City’s planning, public works and traffic enforcement staff to explore what can be accomplished to reduce traffic speed on Garfield Ave.
