Description

New Haven Traffic needs to get their act together.
I live on Lynwood and this has been an issue over and over again - I tried to research the information regarding tag-and-tow regulations but cannot find anything regarding tagging and notice.

I documented the stingy/crappy street-tagging practices in this video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/76gdvpkavpfm5id/LynwoodPlaceStreetTagging.mov?dl=0

As you can see, only ONE sign was posted for street sweeping today (close to the intersection of Edgewood and Lynwood). There is only one car parked there. However, as no other signs are posted (the street is tag-and-tow), the rest of the street is full of cars. When I took this video it was 12:20pm on Tuesday so I assume the tow truck hadn't come yet.

This is ridiculous New Haven - you expect citizens to collaborate by moving their cars when you want to street sweep but you A) don't post permanent street-sweeping signs to save money, instead opting for so called "tag-and-tow" policies yet B) You don't tag streets correctly.

All of these cars will likely be towed, and despite being able to "Appeal" the tickets, people will still be stuck with towing fees.

ACTIONS: New Haven Parking and Traffic needs to make clear what the posting rules are for street-sweeping. Get rid of tag-and-tow and make permanent signs on streets. If you can't do that, take responsibility and make sure you give more than advanced notice (at least 48 hrs - especially on long weekends/holidays).
