Dear Oaklander, Thank you for taking the time to report a pothole or other needed street repair to the City of Oakland Department of Transportation, or OakDOT. Our next step with your request will be to review it and assign it a priority level so that we can respond as promptly and appropriately as we can to the thousands of requests we receive each year. Your input into this process is critical, as we count on our community to be our eyes and ears as new issues arise or existing issues change. OAK311 is our one-stop shop for public maintenance requests, and it's the best method we have for logging, tracking, and prioritizing requests like yours. We’d like also to take this opportunity to share some information with you about how we’re taking on the bigger task of improving all Oakland streets – including fully repaving streets. In general, for our 3-Year Paving Plan (adopted in mid-2019) we prioritized local streets based on the Pavement Condition Index (https://oakgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8802147bcb4b42bfb21846e36205fe4d), working generally from the worst streets next to schools, to the worst streets otherwise, until our budget target was met. With this plan, we will be repaving more than 70 miles of local streets in three years. This is a massive increase in funding dedicated to local streets: in the past ten years we averaged just under 3 miles of local streets paving per year. Unfortunately, even with this aggressive move to address local street conditions, we are not able to prioritize every one of the 300+ local street miles that are good candidates for repaving.   This pothole is so big that I avoid that street entirely when driving in the neighborhood. I also have to take care that I don't trip there when walking my dog. It has gotten big, and is many times filled with stagnant water. Please fix this ASAP!

  This pothole is a hazard to all cars driving in the neighborhood. The other day I saw a car swerve around it and nearly hit a dog walker nearby. Please fix ASAP -- before the rains start and make it worse. Thank you.

  This road can't wait until 2027 to get repaired. It has needed a fix many yesterdays ago. Could you please expedite repair of this area of Mountain Blvd between Pinewood and Monzal before an accident happens or a car is damaged? Thank you.

  Please fix this pothole as it is a significant hazard and has gotten extremely large. The section of Mountain immediately next to it was re-paved this past year and was in okay condition. It's very unclear why this section of Mountain Blvd was ignored, when it clearly was in poor condition and a danger to cars, bikes, strollers, etc.

  This pothole is more of an ever expanding crater, and the street is rapidly approaching dirt road status. The crater poses a risk of physical harm to cars and bodily harm to bicyclists and pedestrians. The only good thing about it is that it slows cars down on a street where a number of toddlers live. The street desperately needs repaving. It also could use speed bumps.

  As the above comments all describe, these potholes are now dangerous to vehicles and pedestrians. Drivers swerve around the holes and have nearly hit me while I'm walking my dogs. This segment of Mountain Blvd is narrow and does not have sidewalks. Please repair before someone is hurt.

  And to keep the potholes from returning (as they have over the years), please fix the drainage so that water is not streaming over the road surface in this location.
